The beginning of the story is taking the setting of Christmas morning in 1909. That was when Lady was taken into the world by human parents, Jim Dear and Darling. The story of Lady and the Tramp also shows the character called the Tramp, who lives across town by the railway. In the Lady and the Tramp, the character Tramp is described as a schnauzer-mix stray mutt. In the meantime, one-year-old Lady has made Jim Dear and Darling impatient and increasingly short.

In one occasion of the Lady and the Tramp story, Lady is chased by some dogs in the streets. Then, the Tramp sees the pursuit and rescues Lady. Both of them then visit a zoo when the Tramp trying to get Lady's attention. One of the famous scenes of the movie is when the Tramp is having a spaghetti dinner with Lady.
